Hey,
I’m Selcen from Turkey. Welcome to my web site. To start about myself, I am Turkish and I live in Ankara, the capital of Turkey as you see from the web site’s theme. I work as a research assistant in Gazi University, Department of Turkish Language and Literature. My research field is Turkic languages and nowadays I am preparing my thesis to obtain Ph.D. degree. I love reading, researching and of course cooking. Being a well-educated academic, as well as a good chef is my biggest dream.

Selcen Koca SariWhen we come to cooking, first of all I have to give an answer to the question how my cooking adventure started. Well, it goes to my childhood years. In my spare times when I was a child, I was always in kitchen, just like other girls. Though my mother’s warnings and restrictions, I always trying to cook something. Obviously, I was disappointed with my first (actually childish) foods, but day by day I started to feel that I can be a good “kitchen maid”. It was so pleasing for me to get people’s impressions about my food, especially when they say “it’s delicious”. Of course they were saying this to make me happy, but it was effective anyway. So I started cooking. In 2011, when I got married to my beloved husband Isa, cooking was started to be my responsibility along with being my hobby. Since my husband knows little about cooking and he loves my recipes, I seriously thought about improving my cooking abilities. I read many cooking books, tried new recipes etc., than said to my husband “Why not to design a web site on Turkish food?”. That’s how started my web site. In addition, when I think that I love cooking and I don’t get tired while I was cooking, I thought such a web site would be a great promotion for our cuisine. On newyear’s day, my husband sent me an e-mail with my web site’s link on it, and I was so surprised. My web site was ready to publish my recipes. This became the biggest newyear present for me. And I had a second work, but this was different, since cooking is my biggest hobby. I loved writing new recipes and sharing them with other people. I enjoyed when people try my recipes and comment on them.

On my web site, you’ll find many Turkish food recipes as well as Turkish culture and cuisine. Besides, a glossary on cooking terms from English to Turkish, a page with several links related to Turkey and Turkish culture can be found. I’ll be very glad if I achieve my aims, that are introducing Turkish cuisine, helping people on cooking them and giving every recipe of Turkish food.

Finally, I have to thank to many people here, especially to my husband who made my dreams real by creating this web site, who ate all the food I made up to present fondly and always supported me. Also I would like to thank my mother, father, brother and sister for their endless love. And also thanks to you for visiting my web site. Please contact me if you have any questions regarding Turkish food and recipes. Thanks for your visiting!
