I will be honest: This recipe is not for beginnners. It’s a bit hard to prepare and exhausting, but I have to confess that it’s yummy. If you like fig which is an healthy food, besides if you like cream, think these two together. Here we have a fig cake with cream. Aydin, a city of Turkey is famous for it’s figs, especially dried figs. You may consider it sweety but it’s not harmful to our health like chocolates or cakes manufactured with ingredients that we even don’t know their names.
A mixing bowl
A cake tray or pyrex
A stirring spoon
Pour the boiled water onto the dried figs and wait for 10 minutes until they drain the water. Then cut them into small pieces. Meanwhile preheat the oven to 160 °C (320 °F).
Add eggs and granulated sugar and blend by using the blender until eggs foam.
Add the flour and baking powder onto this mix and blend again. Then add the figs and walnuts and blend.
Grease the tray and pour the mix onto it. Bake until it’s top turns brown.
While the mix is baking you may prepare the cream. To do this, add the milk, corn starch, flour and granulated sugar into the pot and simmer while you blending it.
Add butter when the cream is condensed and stir for a while. Then turn off the stove.
When the cream gets warm, add whipping cream and blend by using a blender until it is smooth.
To make the syrup, add water, granulated sugar and coffee powder into the bowl.
Turn off the oven and while the cake is hot make some dots on it by using a fork.
First, pour the syrup onto the cake and when the syrup is completely drained (approximately 10-15 minutes), spread the cream equally onto the cake.
You may garnish it with some cocounts, cacoa or cinnamon. Set aside for a few hours in a fridge and serve cold.
