- A medium sized cauliflower
- 2 eggs
- 3 tablespoons milk
- A pinch salt
- 1 tablespoon bread crumbs
- A cup vegetable oil
- 2 cups yogurt
- A garlic clove
I know that so many people don’t like cauliflower, but to be honest, this vegetable is one of hearty food, like it or not. It is consumed especially in winter, let’s say “it’s cold days’ food”. We name this vegetable as karnıbahar in Turkish (I want to emphasize the similarity of pronunciation between cauli and karnı, I think it’s a result of a folk etymology in Turkish). Anyway, every winter I try to cook it differently with different recipes and this is one of them. Here, we have fried cauliflower.
A boiling pot
A frying pan
A mixing bowl
A few small bowls
Take the cauliflower to it’s pieces and wash well. Then put them together into the pot, add water and boil.
Sieve the boiled cauliflower pieces’ water with strainer.
Meanwhile beat eggs, milk and salt in the bowl for a couple minutes.
Pour oil onto the frying pan and heat till it’s ready to fry the cauliflower pieces.
Dip pieces into the mix and bread crumbs respectively.
Fry pieces well until both sides redden.
Put the fried pieces into a bowl and pour yogurt with garlic crushed in it.
