- 2 medium sized zucchinis
- 125 grams (0.275 pounds) feta
- 1 egg
- ½ cup grated kashkaval or cheddar
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 6-7 branches of green dill
- A pinch salt
This is a well looking, healthy and yummy side dish. If you like zucchinis for example in a shape like Turkish “sarma”, think this as a sarma without rice but cheese. It is so easy to prepare and satisfying. Some bechamel sauce can be used if you or your family like it. This side dish is uncommon across the world and in whole Turkey, and you might not think zucchinis and cheese together, but if you like both of them, you will absolutely going to like this new dish too. I used feta, but other cheese types like cheddar or whey can be used too. Also you may use light cheese if you are on a diet.
An oven tray
Wash the zucchinis and put them into the pot.
Pour water just like shown on the photo.
Boil for 10 minutes until they are nearly soft and turn off the stove.
Divide them into two and carve their inside, then sprinkle salt onto them.
Mash the feta and mix with the egg yolk, olive oil and chopped dill.
Pour this mix onto the zucchinis.
Put the zucchinis onto the oven tray and bake in the oven set to 200 °C (400 °F) and bake until their tops redden.
Sprinkle the grated kashkaval (or cheddar) before they cooled and bake again until the kashkaval (or cheddar) melts.
